Seafood Delicacy – Alaskan Crab
Can you just picture that Fourth of July picnic you recently had? Juicy ripe red watermelon, crisp and moist pecan pie, fresh squeezed sweet lemonade, and the best for last: a fresh batch of Alaskan King Crabs. If you have never had it in a holiday dish list, you missed a lot. So try to see it on the next year’s table or just on any dinner of yours. Alaskan crab legs are considered to be quite an expensive product, especially in winter season, so don’t wait long to order them. Another reason for purchasing seafood now is the fact that sea products in the country will no longer have an attractive price they used to have. This is because of the biggest country’s seafood market that has recently terminated.
It is true; Louisiana was of a vital importance as our seafood supplier and the consequences of the problem are enormous. And if you think that Alaskan King Crabs would not reflect the changes in Louisiana, you are seriously mistaken. Some economics knowledge can help you understand the situation. Being direct competitors, two businesses shouldn’t close their eyes on the actual product value when increasing its price or they will lose a great deal of their clients. Although loyal customers may leave the same buying patterns, potential consumers tend to lean towards a cheaper substitute. Companies sometimes do not realize the efficiency of a profit maximization strategy well enough to use it. With Louisiana being knocked out of the water in the seafood business, Alaska has 40% less competition than it did before. Meaning that they now have only a competition with the remaining seafood business states like Maryland, South Carolina, and other places on the east and west coasts. When such a serious competitor has left out, Alaska can feel free to increase the price on their products as people do not have another good regional supplier to choose from. Although the price is high, you shouldn’t exclude seafood from your meal, especially now, when BP oil spill is about to change the ecosystem.
Back to the positive side. Apart from their wonderful taste, King Crab Legs is also very healthy food for most people. They can be added to a list of dishes for every holiday. They are also very acceptable as you can buy them in nearly any store of the country. More often you can see Alaskan crabs in stores during crabbing season. If not, be careful because non-fresh crabs are pretty dangerous to your health. You would love to know that you don’t need superior cooking skills in order to enjoy it. They are done in minutes and you only need to take care about some snack.
