The Experience of Colorado Fly Fishing
Although there are many great places in America where fishing is popular, none compares to fishing found in Colorado. Of all states, Colorado is known near and far for its incredible fly fishing, making it the number one state of choice. People who want to spend time fishing will find that Colorado offers the biggest, best, and greatest variety of any state.
When it comes to fly fishing in Colorado, one of the greatest places to visit is known as the Frying Pan River, which is located near the beautiful area of Aspen. There, people will find access to the river easy and the overall surroundings stunning. The most popular trout found in this area include brown, cutthroat, and of course, rainbow. The many hatches around the area are in full operation all year, making Colorado fly fishing something enthusiasts can do whenever they like.
Colorado offers so many wonderful places to fish within the Aspen area, another called the Roaring Fork. Unlike other rivers, this one is unique in that the river is large and powerful yet it offers gentle, smaller flowing areas. Known for being full of wild trout and within easy access via the Rio Grande Trail, this is indeed one of the finest locations.
Fishing at Roaring Fork is also a place where year-round trout fishing is available, just as with the Frying Pan River. At Roaring Fork, the waters offer rainbow trout primarily although catching an occasional wild brook trout is also possible.
The North Platte River was once used by pioneers to traverse portions of the West. Indians hunted buffalo along its shores, and its fish population has made it a legend for Colorado fly fishing. It is located in Northwestern Colorado and has been rated a gold medal river by experts. You will find many trout in the waters of the Platte and be able to enjoy some beautiful scenery at the same time!
Then, people heading to the region where Vail is located can also fish the Colorado River, which flows through the beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park. What makes this river so amazing is its vast depth and width, but also the gentle waters. All along the shoreline are cottonwood trees, which provide shade and great places for brown trout to hide. Because of this, trout in the Colorado River are in abundance.
Another area is in the Southwest where the Arkansas River flows, also outstanding for catching trout. While fishing is great all year, the mid-winter and spring months are the best. However, every year around Mother's Day, the caddis are known for hatching. This means that brown trout have lots to eat, forcing them from their secret places and becoming easy to fish for.
The entire state of Colorado has so many exciting places, where people can fish with those mentioned being just a few of the favorites. In fact, fishing in the United States is rated among the most coveted, complete with a beautiful countryside. Fishing in Colorado is fun and there are some great lodges and other accommodations. The bottom line is that Colorado fly fishing offers something very special, a beautiful place, gorgeous scenery, and amazing fish.
