Get Organized And Get Your Life On Track!
With all our Feb rains, don't our mountains look gorgeous-picture postcard pretty! From afar, the snow often seems like whipped cream sitting atop our fave sundaes. Up close, the mountains look incredible and electrifying, unless we are thinking of climbing them. Then, those self same enormous beauties look daunting and impossible.
Occasionally our projects and tasks look the same way. The end is so far removed from where we are standing that we will not work out how we will ever complete them, and do a successful job as well.
If you recall in the last edition I wrote about the significance of "The Art of the Start." If you missed it, you can find it in the archive section on the Healthful Times website.
Commence with small steps of action. That can build the success and momentum we need. If we don't think about the complete project (or mountain) in one big gulp, but rather ask ourselves, "What's the following action that will move this forward?" That one question can keep us on track and build forward motion.
Latterly I was on a ski trip at Mammoth Mountain where I noted disabled sportsmen getting round the mountain. I do not mean figuring out the correct way to go through the food line in the lodge. I mean getting off and on the chair lifts, skiing down the slopes, and getting up when they tumbled.
This particular group is named The Achievers. How's that for a great name! On this specific weekend the members were from Orange County and their truck is decorated with the slogan "If I will do this, I can do anything."
A few of these people were skiing with one leg, or blind or ski-sitting in a device called a scarver. They approached each run, each turn and each challenge with confidence and keenness. These mountains presented no fear to these very able people.
Let's develop their attitude for the mountains in our lives. What has you on overwhelm? Is it psychological clutter talking at you? Is it physical mess? Is it people you have been seeing or places you have been going that no longer bring you joy?
Visualize that physical or emotional space absolutely cleared and opened up for novel possibilities for you. How would you feel? Lighter with your step? Younger with your pace? More fit with your life?
Commence with what is troubling you the most. Is it not enough personal time to do the things you'd like? If that is so research your calendar and start cutting. Remove anything you positively can. Delegate jobs to others or hire someone that could do some of these. Maybe a buddy has a high school or university student who would like to earn some money. Defer if you can some projects that absolutely don't have to happen right now.
If it's too much physical clutter, ask which area is bugging you the most. Is it the front entry? Is it the main bedroom which has become the family discarding ground? Is it the home based office? Is it the walk-in closet that you can not walk in any more?
Whichever space is gnawing at you the most, that's where you need to focus your energy. Where are your largest mountains that are holding you back from leading a happy, healthy, productive life?
If the disabled sportsmen can face their mountains, I know you can, also , and with equally as much success!
